Big Buddies
Our Big Buddy program involves Year 6 students working with the newly arrived Preps each year. The Year 6 students are buddied up with a Prep student to help them with their daily play times and other areas including showing them where facilities, etc are around the school.
Peer Mediation
Year 5 students are trained in the area of Peer Mediation in readiness for them to take on the role of helping to solve small social issues that arise in the playground.
Young Leaders Program
A group of Year 6 students attend a Young Leaders Day in Melbourne being inspired by motivational speakers and learning about the impact they can have on others by demonstrating strong leadership.
Early Bird Reading Program
This program involves our year 5&6 students who share their love of reading with Prep/1& 2 students before school begins on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Kindergarten Program
Year 5 students attend Kindergartens around Yarrawonga to assist in the delivery of the 4 year old Kindergarten Programs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The students work with groups of 4 year old Kindergarten students and read, play and socialise with the younger children. Approximately 40 year 5 students are involved in the program.
School Captains
Each term the Primary Campus has 2 School Captains who are responsible for running assembly, meeting and greeting visitors, delivering speeches and representing the school on special days.
Sports Captains
The College has 4 sports houses and 2 captains for each house. The role involves students assisting with sports day setups and organising students into events in each house.
Student Council
2 students from each class from Year 3 through to Year 6 are involved in Junior School Council to share their peers ideas, concerns and look towards raising money for projects within the school. The primary campus Junior School Council also meets with the Secondary Campus council to make arrangements for special across College days.
Workshop
The Primary Campus has a Workshop Program that involves students in special projects including construction, wood work, art and other activities. The Workshop Leaders are responsible for setting up the Workshop resources on a daily basis and assisting younger students with their projects.
Lunch Time Activities
Year 6 students on a voluntary basis take the time to prepare lunch time activities for younger students including soccer, football, netball and art/craft activities.
