Calling for Plant Donations - YC P-12 Secondary Campus

We are hoping to re-plant out the garden beds along the front entrance-way of the Secondary Campus, and then create some further gardens along the driveway and around the Campus.

We have ordered some plants to get us started, but there is a lot of area to plant out. If anyone has any hardy, drought-tolerant, non-toxic, non-prickly plants that you could spare from your gardens, and could donate to the Campus in about 2 weeks time it would be greatly appreciated.

If you could please contact Karen Mullavey at or 5744 1751 if you are able to assist.

Regards

Kim Stewart
Principal

Internet Safety Awareness presentation for Parents

Cybersmart Outreach - Internet Safety Awareness presentation
Tuesday 25 October at 7pm, Yarrawonga College P-12 Senior Study Centre

People today are immersed in digital technologies. They use the internet and mobile phones to socialise, study, exchange ideas and play. While online activity has many benefits, there are also risks.

To help your children stay safe online, Yarrawonga College P-12 is hosting for parents a Cybersmart Outreach - Internet Safety Awareness Presentation on Tuesday 25 October at 7pm. This presentation is provided by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (the ACMA) as part of a national program of cybersmart initiatives.

The Cybersmart Outreach—Internet Safety Awareness presentation is thorough and non-technical. It covers a range of issues including:

  • the ways children use the internet and emerging technologies
  • potential risks for children online, such as cyberbullying, identity theft, inappropriate contact and exposure to inappropriate content
  • tips to help children stay safe online.

Yarrawonga College P-12 is committed to helping students develop appropriate behaviours when using digital technologies, both at school and home. To register your attendance, please contact Karen Mullavey on 5744 1751 by Monday 24 October or via email on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Information Session tonight for all current Year 9's and parents

Tonight at 7pm in the Senior Study Centre Yarrawonga College P-12 will host its Year 10 Information Nightfor all current Year 9's and any other interested members of the community.

The night will include information on students decisions going into year 10 as it sets up their pathway for the future. For example, completing a VCE subject in Year 10 allows students in Year 11 to complete a Year 12 subject. This means they do an extra Year 12 subject, which not only contributes to their ATAR score for University, but gives invaluable experience in the demands of a Year 12 study, prior to completing Year 12. Completing work placement often results in students picking up an apprenticeship in the area of their choice.

Other important topics that will discussed on the night are:

• How Year 10 is considered a major transition point into senior years of education

• The options available to students

  • Work placement – at school four days per week and in workplace one day per week
  • Accelerated Learning – option to complete a VCE subject as part of their Yr 10 studies (at school five days per week)
  • Normal Year 10 – Year 10 subjects only and school 5 days per week

For further information on this night please contact Allison Knight (Senior School Leader) on 5744 1751 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Alternatively please visit our Year 9 and 10 Curriculum section of the website.
